Jack Kerouac, Shakyamuni Buddha, and transmigration

excerpted from the notebooks of Jack Haas

Buddha touched the earth as a witness to his enlightenment.

The laughing Buddha often depicted with his big belly- the flesh and the earth- and his cosmic consciousness, integrated in the transformed individual. In the om the flesh is real.

"It is painful to leave the world; it is painful to be in the world; and it is painful to be alone amongst the many. The long road of transmigration is a road of pain for the traveller; let him rest by the road and be free." Shakyamuni Buddha

I am the Buddha known as the Quitter. Jack Kerouac (Dharma Bums, p180)

The disregard for the necessity of conventional work, at all costs, as well as the avoidance of life's tangles, and a-musements. To live society's way is to find only what society finds. And if that is all that you want, then be sure it is easy to have.

I have also linked east and west. The east took me to absolute consciousness, the west took me to relative will. I am transcendent consciousness, and immanent will. I AM. My occidental male is in the world, and my eastern female is outside.

The lower self, the lover of the higher self.

To do without getting attached to the doing.

Let the doing happen.

Look upon everything as if it not yours.

There is no teacher for what cannot be taught.

To be the experience of the event- to be the event and not just the experiencer.

To be all that is. To be.

Certain knowledge is bound to this paradigm.

Certain knowledge is not.

The window is above.

The door is below.
